A man was arrested near Butterworth in the Eastern Cape for allegedly murdering his mother.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha says the 22-year old was arrested by Kei Bridge police.
He says the suspect was allegedly arguing with his niece on Monday, when his mother 67-year old mother intervened.
Mamatha says he allegedly accosted her with a bush knife, and she died on the scene.
He was arrested soon after the attack, and will appear in court on Tuesday.
