A 30 year old man will appear in court on Monday on charges of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and 17 rounds of ammunition.
Police Spokesperson Captain Jacskon Manatha says he was arrested at a tavern at Mangweni, where he is working as a cashier.
He says it is alleged that an 18 year old went to buy liquor at the tarven, and was identified by the suspect as the person who provoked at sometimes.
Manatha says the suspect allegedly drew his firearm and shot the 18 year old in the upper body.
The victim was rushed to Butterworth Hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.
