The 41-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old niece appeared at the Mdantsane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The Police's Mluleki Mbi says the man was arrested on the 10th of this month at his home in unit three which he shares with his sister who is the victim's mother.
Mbi said the victim who cannot be named was also living in the house but has now been moved to a place of safety.
He said the suspect will remain in custody and will appear in court again on the 29th of this month.
