A 40-year-old man is expected to appear in the East London Magistrate's court on Monday for allegedly making death threats against government officials and municipal councillors.
According to Hawks spokesperson, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, the man was arrested on Friday morning.
"The stalking and deaths threat had been happening for almost a year however it was recently reported to the serious organised crime task team wing of the Eastern Cape Hawks," he said.
Mulaudzi said that the man will also face additional charges of making allegations "regarding a hit on a senior government official and a politician."
He said the Hawks would continue investigating as it is believed that the suspect may have other cases pending against him.
