A 27-year-old King Williams Town man who was arrested after police recovered explosives in his possession will remain in custody until his formal bail application is heard in court next month.
Police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, says the suspect was arrested earlier this week when police followed up on information they received about explosives being kept at a house in Zwartberg street, in West Bank.
She said they searched the yard and recovered an empty cash box and a shotgun, while further investigations of the house led them to recover a hand-grenade and 9mm pistol with a magazine hidden in a small bag.
Mawisa said the suspect was charged for being in the possession of explosives as well as unlicensed firearms on Wednesday.
He is expected to be back in the Magistrate's Court on 7 March.
