An Eastern Cape man charged with the deaths of six people in a hit-and-run accident over the weekend, has appeared in court in Mbizana.
The National Prosecuting Authority says 24-year-old Sanele Zinkwantshu, was granted bail of R1000.
He was arrested on Sunday and made his first court appearance on Monday.
The horror accident occurred last Friday evening on the R-61 between Mbizana and Mzamba with an earlier report saying the driver had fled the scene.
The deceased were; Siyavuya Sabelo (31), Sandiso Nkasa (30), Kamvelihle Dindi (24), Mvisiswano Ngaleka (24), Sibonelo Potye (29) and Mthokozisi Jabulana (29).
They were walking along the road when a sedan heading from the Mbizana, direction towards Mzamba ploughed into them.
NPA regional spokesperson, Luxolo Tyali, says the matter was postponed to 15 July for further investigation.
