Police in the Eastern Cape have arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly killed an elderly woman and raped her two grandchildren.
According to police, the man entered the 72-year-old woman's house on Sunday where she was sleeping with her two granddaughters aged 4 and 5.
The woman was stabbed multiple times and left to die on a mattress outside her room.
The suspect allegedly kidnapped the two little girls and raped than at a different location.
The kids were later found alive and returned to their home.
Provincial police launched a 72-hour activation plan which led to the suspect's arrest in Libode.
He is expected to appear in court soon where he will be charged with murder, kidnapping, rape and house robbery.
