A 32-year-old man from the Eastern Cape has appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder and robbery.
The National Prosecuting Authority says Thamsanqa Legonya from Alono village in the Eastern Cape appeared on Friday, almost a year after 80-year-old Jackie Grobler was brutally murdered in her house at the Koraal Old Age Home in Polokwane.
She was reportedly alone on the night of 21 September last year when Thamsanqa entered the premises and allegedly attacked and killed her before taking her mobile phone, a laptop, bank cards, and R500 cash before fleeing the scene.
The suspect was at large for almost a year until he was recently arrested in Krugersdorp in Gauteng.
The case was postponed to 27 August.
