The Eastern Cape Liquor Board has announced the appointment of Khanyile Maneli as its new CEO, effective 1st of March 2015.
The Board says his leadership is exactly what it needs in driving its mandate of regulating the liquor industry in the Province.
On his first day in the position, Maneli has flown to Pretoria for urgent meetings with role players in the industry.
Eastern Cape liqour Board spokesperson Mgwebi Msiya told AlgoaFM news that Maneli was no stranger to the Eastern Cape, having served in various strategic positions around the Province, the last being as Municipal Manager of Nkonkobe Local Municipality in the Amathole district.

EASTERN CAPE LIQUOR BOARD ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF THE NEW CEO
The Eastern Cape Liquor Board (ECLB) is extremely delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. KC Maneli as its new CEO, effective from 1 March 2015.
Mr. Maneli is a dynamic leader who brings a remarkable set of skills, knowledge and experience to the ECLB. He has a proven ability to motivate individuals, drive innovation, ensure meticulous execution and deliver results. His leadership is exactly what ECLB needs in driving its mammoth mandate of regulating liquor industry in the Province. With him at the helm the entity is poised to continue on a path of success.
The new CEO is no stranger to the people of the Eastern Cape; having served in various strategic positions around the Province, the last being as Municipal Manager of Nkonkobe Local Municipality. One of his notable achievements during his tenure at the Municipality has been taking the institution from the disclaimer to the qualification.
He describes himself as a humble, rural peasant who leads from the front. Reflecting on his vision for ECLB, Mr Maneli said: "I envisage a well-oiled organisation that is effectively equipped to meet expectations of the people of the Eastern Cape by ensuring seamless regulation of liquor industry"
The new CEO joins Liquor Board during the period when it is intensifying compliance and enforcement in its fight against inconsiderate liquor trading and the proliferation of illegal liquor outlets in the Province.
His message to the people of the Eastern Cape is simply: "I humbly request people of the Eastern Cape to cooperate with ECLB, assist it in identifying delinquent liquor traders and those that trade without valid liquor licenses. I also appeal for assistance in general policing and monitoring activities of the licensed taverns."
"To licensed liquor traders, I wish to urge them to continue to abide by the conditions as stipulated in their liquor licenses" said Mr Maneli.
Mr. Maneli has worked for the Department of Social Development and Office of The Premier, among others. Some of his career highlights have been while working in the Pemier's Office where he was instrumental in setting up a unit called People's Forum which has now been adopted by the National Government and is called 'Imbizos'.
Mr Maneli has equipped himself with a myriad of academic qualifications, which include LLB form the University of Fort Hare, LLM from UNISA, Masters in Development Studies from the University of the Free State. He also has a number of diplomas from other Universities.
In reference to the legacy he wants to leave behind in the ECLB, Mr Maneli says: "It is my utmost desire to see an organisation that is ready to respond to the needs of the Eastern Cape community and employees who are ready to discharge their duties".
