Motor vehicle licence fees will increase 8% in the Eastern Cape from 1 July 2012.
The provincial transport department says in a statement that the Road Traffic Management Corporation has taken over control of increases of fees for learners', drivers' and roadworthy tests.
Personalised number plates and agency fees for registering authorities will not be increased.
The Eastern Cape has the fourth highest fees in South Africa.
