Tragedy has hit a Peddie school where a 14-year-old Grade 7 learner was stabbed to death by a fellow pupil.
Eastern Cape Education Department spokesperson, Mali Mtima, says the incident happened at the Mpeko Primary School on Thursday.
The alleged perpetrator is a 17-year-old learner.
Mtima says the Department will be providing support to the family of the victim who has not yet been identified.
Police were called to the scene and the victim's body was taken to the state mortuary.
No further details were available as yet.
In September last year, a learner at another school in the Peddie area died after he was stabbed while trying to break up a fight between two other pupils.
A 16-year-old was arrested in connection with that incident.
The victim, Anathi Baku, was a learner at Nathaniel Pamla High School.
