Police in Thornhill outside Port Elizabeth are searching for four men following a home invasion on Friday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said the suspects entered the house in Weaver Way at around 10 pm "through an open doorway" and threatened a couple with knives and firearms.
She said the homeowner tried to overpower one of the men but was stabbed several times with a screwdriver before tying them up.
"The suspects took cellphones, tablets, laptops, jewellery, and cash and fled from the scene".
Swart said the complainant managed to alert their security company and the SAPS.
The couple was taken for medical treatment.
