The Eastern Cape Health Department says its investigating the alleged abuse of two state ambulances which were used as transport to a weekend braai.
The ambulances and personnel were reportedly photographed by a Daily Dispatch photographer.
Bhisho Health Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, says they will take action against the employees involved.
"The incident that allegedly took place over the weekend is being investigated, but appropriate action will be taken and those officials might be suspended. We have also received a report that there is an indication that a supervisor is alleged to have allowed the drivers to go to the braai. If that is the case the supervisor might also find himself in hot water" he said
