EC health committed to make ARV's more accessible

The Eastern Cape Department of Health has committed to make ARV treatment accessible for distribution by public benefit organisation Siyakhana Health Trust.

Siyakhana is a trust that assists businesses with basic primary health services, focusing mostly on HIV, TB and high blood pressure.

The health trust launched its first mobile workplace clinic in East London on Thursday morning.

Department of health acting director general Mahlubandile Qwase committed to speeding up the signing of the agreement.

"It is going to expand the reach we already have through our primary health care facilities to ensure that by end of next week the memorandum of understanding is signed to make sure we do not delay the implementation of this programme.

Mercedes Benz SA and the Border-Kei Chamber of business are the two main partners of the trust.

Siyakhana's Dr Simeon Odugwu says the mobile clinic will help them reach more companies.

"The mobile clinic will help us to reach more companies, especially in difficult to reach terrains like in th esector of agriculture and construction" Odugwu said.
