The Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board will destroy dozens of illegal gaming machines and other gambling devices on Tursday.
The board says these illegal gambling machines and devices had been confiscated from illegal gambling operations throughout the province.
Gambling board spokesperson Monde Duma says the machines were seized from illegal operations in both rural towns as well as in relatively upmarket locations.
He says the total estimated value of the confiscated machines is R2.4m and losses to the government in gambling tax revenue would have amounted to around R2.8m.
