EC gambling board rakes in gambling taxes

The Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury raked in 10.3 million from gambling taxes in June.

That's according to figures released by the Eastern Cape Gambling And Betting Board.

This is R840 000 more than was paid in May, with all sectors recording a decline month-on-month.

Turnover at the province’s gaming facilities in June totalled R1.8 billion, approximately 94 million less than the previous month.

The six licensed Bingo halls in the Eastern Cape continued to prosper, with turnover of R150.4 million in June.

The Board is in the process of licensing an additional nine Bingo halls across the province.
