An Eastern Cape farmer and a woman from Stutterheim are expected to enter into a plea agreement with the state following their arrest in a child prostitution case.
They reportedly face 28 charges that include sexual exploitation of a child and human trafficking for sexual purposes.
The pair were arrested last year after the woman allegedly offered her daughter, who was 11 at the time, to the farmer for sexual purposes.
Its further alleged that she got her daughter recruit two other girls for the farmer.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson in the Eastern Cape, Tsepo Ndwalaza, says the case began in the Stutterheim Regional Court on Wednesday.
"The accused in the matter wanted to do a plea in relation to the charges. The Prosecution told me they were not in agreement with some of the issues raised. They wanted some of the charges to be cut off from the plea. The prosecution was not very happy about that and they decided to discuss the matter and come back with what exactly it is they want excluded on the charges" he said
