Eastern Cape police are appealing to the public for help following a double murder on a farm in the Cala District earlier this month.
In a statement on Wednesday, police said two men arrived at Draaifontein Farm on 4 December pretending to be looking for sheep.
“While the owner of the farm was responding one of the suspects drew a firearm and started shooting. Both the husband and wife, 66 and 56 years old were fatally wounded,” said Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci.
The suspects fled on foot and two murder cases were opened for investigation.
Soci said the motive for the shooting will form part of the ongoing investigation.
The names of the deceased were not released in the police statement.
SAPS is appealing to anyone who can assist the police investigation to contact the Investigating Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Thembinkosi Spambo on 0827797128 or SAPS Crime Stop at 086100 10111.
