Eastern Cape police says they are on the trail of an alleged assassin who killed a taxi driver outside Mthatha on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela, says the incident occurred after nine pm on the road between Mthatha and Libode.He says it appears that the driver was shot from inside the vehicle as they found a spent cartridge from a 9mm pistol inside the vehicle.
Fatyela says while no arrests have been made as yet, they are following very strong leads.Meanwhile, he says two ATM's were the targets of bombers in the early hours of the morning.
He says it's not clear if any money had been stolen as the machines are badly damaged.Fatyela says ATM bombing took place at Nhlaza on the R-61 towards Port St Johns.
