Eastern Cape police are hunting for the suspects behind the murders of four people in Lady Frere this week.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, said the bodies of three women, aged 44, 72 and 74 and a man, aged 88, were found in separate houses at Zangqoweni Locality on Monday morning.
He said police were initially called to the home of the 44-year-old woman at around 04:00 that morning.
Kinana said while police were still at the scene they were informed of another woman, 72, who was also found dead in her house
“Later, at about 07:00, the bodies of a 75-year-old woman and 88-year-old man were also found dead in their house. All the houses are in close proximity and all the victims had stab wounds,” he said.
Kinana said the motive for the killings has not yet been established but he said four cases of murder have been opened for investigation.
