An Eastern Cape policeman has died after being hacked on the head by a panga-wielding man.
Provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Marinda Mills, says the attack occurred in the Elliotdale area late on Wednesday, when two officers responded to a complaint of domestic violence.
The policeman, who died in hospital, was identified as the 29-year-old Constable Phumlani Mgobodi.
Mills says the suspect, who was shot and wounded by Mgobodi's colleague, also died in Mthatha Academic Hospital on Thursday morning.
