An Eastern Cape policeman has appeared in court in connection with the murder of a colleague.
37-year-old Constable Elliot Ndzwayiba appeared briefly in the Butterworth Magistrate Court on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says he was not asked to plead and will remain in custody until his next court appearance next Tuesday.
Ndzwayiba handed himself over to Msobomvu police after the body of 28-year-old Constable Axolile Nojekwa was found on Saturday night by members of the community near Bethel College between Butterworth and Centane.
He had gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body.
Manatha says the motive for the murder is not known.
