Eastern Cape and other communities will be in Parliament this week where the portfolio committee on police will be evaluating the police's gang strategy.
Committee chairperson, Francois Beukman, said the police's ability to deal with organised crime, and specifically organised gangs, is key to ensure that the recommendations of the National Development Plan about the re-establishment of specialised units are fully implemented.
He said they have invited civil society groups and community leaders from four provinces to the meeting on Tuesday.
Beukman said they would give testimony on their experiences and concerns about law enforcement in gang-infested areas.
The groups include Community Police Forums, civil society, and religious leaders.
