The ANC in the Eastern Cape has welcomed the outcome of the party's elective conference which returned Jacob Zuma to the party's presidency.
His deputy is billionaire Cyril Ramaphosa.
ANC Eastern Cape spokesperson, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, says the greatest task facing the new executive committee is to take to the ANC into the next century.
He says there must be vibrancy in the change of policies and programmes and capacity of government to implement what is contained in the Freedom Charter.
"The leadership renewal must become the key element. Areas that have been discussed here must be implemented as soon as possible," he said.
"The newly elected NEC has got a duty to unite the country, to unite the ANC, to unite the Alliance. By so doing we will be giving South Africans a better hope for (the) future."
