The ANC in the Eastern Cape suspended several disgruntled members who marched on the Buffalo City Metro (BCM) over the alleged manipulation of branch membership figures.
ANC spokesperson Oscar Mabuyane said among those suspended were ANC stalwart and former Bhisho MPL Joe Jordan, who led the march.
Mabuyane told News 24 that they are being subjected to the ruling party's disciplinary process.
He said the members were accused of bringing the party into disrepute, and accused them of holding their own election parallel to that of the ANC.
Jordan and other ANC members marched against the BCM ANC regional executive committee in August.
Mabuyane said he expected the Provincial Disciplinary Committee would meet early next year.
