EC ANC official in court for fraud and corruption

The Amathole's ANC regional secretary Tembalethu Ntutu, and two co accused appeared briefly in the Butterworth Magistrates Court on Tuesday on fraud and corruption charges.

Eastern Cape Hawks spokesperson Captain Anelisa Feni, identified the two accused as prominent businessman Regie Masuku and Mnquma Municipality employee Zanele Mbewu.

Captain Feni said the three handed themselves over to the hawks after being linked to a refuse bag tender which cost the Mnquma Local Municipality millions of rands between 2012 and 2015.

They were granted bail of between R4000 and R20 000.

Feni said this was the same fraud and corruption case involving the late Mnquma municipality boss Sindile Tansti and Butterworth businessman Sive Nombembe.

She added that the late Tansi and Nombembe had been out on bail since March and that all suspects involved in this case will be back in court next week Monday.
