Assault case against Jesus Dominion International church member postponed

The assault case against a member of  controversial pastor, Tim Omotoso's church has been postponed for further investigation.

30-year-old, Lusapho Nqinileyo briefly appeared in Port Elizabeth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting two local journalists following Omotoso's dramatic arrest by the Hawks two weeks ago.

eNCA cameraman Nceba Ntlanganiso together with City Press Freelance Journalist, Nosiphiwo Manona were physically attacked by Nqinileyo when they went to Omotoso's ministry to conduct interviews

According to Manona although the altercation was with a group of congregants, Nqinileyo was the one who physically attacked her and the eNCA cameraman.

Nqinileyo's counter charges against the two journalists were withdrawn by the Director of Public Prosecution after video evidence exonerated them.

The 30-year-old Jesus Dominion International member will appear back in court on the sixth of July.

Manona said she is happy about the DPP's decision to throw out Nqinileyo's case against them.

She said the fact that somebody was willing to listen to their plight shows that there's still hope for the justice system.

"Get whatever you can to defend your own case, because without that footage he could have gotten away with the charges," Manona concluded.

Tim Omotoso will be appearing in court again on 3 May on charges of Human Trafficking.
