Port Elizabeth police are searching for five men who robbed the Pick 'n Pay in Summerstrand on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, said the robbers were able to slip into the premises around 07:30am when a security guard let in staff and also opened the gates at the store's goods receiving entrance to let in a delivery truck.
He said the men ordered the guard to the store's money room where an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
Labans said that a shot was also fired by one of the men and a woman employee was slightly wounded by shrapnel.
The men fled in a green VW Passat.
