The ANC in the Eastern Cape has called on the government to institute disciplinary proceedings against officials named in the Public Protector's report on government spending on presidents Jacob Zuma's Nkandla private residence.
Advocate Thuli Madonsela released her 450 page report on Wednesday, saying among other things, that while Zuma did not mislead parliament, he has to payback some of the spend.
Reacting, ANC Eastern Cape spokesperson, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, says they welcome the fact that Madonsela's report found no wrong doing by the President.
He also sounded a warning to officials and public servants not to waste resources for what he said were hidden and unknown agendas.
Qoboshiyane says the ANC in the Eastern Cape remains fully behind president Jacob Zuma’s candidacy and Presidency.
Justice Minister, Jeff Radebe, says all improvements made to President Jacob Zuma's residents at Nkandla were necessary for security.
He said no stone would be left unturned to bring the people who were responsible for maladministration to book.
The Presidency has welcomed the Madonsela’s report saying that Zuma will study it and respond in due course.
Meanwhile, opposition parties are meanwhile calling for Zuman's head.
The DA says it will lay charges at Nkandla police station on Thursday, while its parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko says she will be instituting impeachment proceedings against president Zuma in parliament.
UDM leader, Bantu Holomisa, says the Public Protector's finding that Zuma had violated the Executive Members Ethics Code through his failure to act to protect state resources, must be offensive to any nation that takes pride in the values espoused in its constitution.
Cope leader, Mosioua Lekota said he believed the President had failed South Africa and the nation in a very serious way.
