Management and staff of Port Elizabeth International Airport are expecting that flying for leisure purposes to and from the airport will begin to pick up significantly from next week.
Senzeni Ndebele of the Airports Company South Africa, says it is very encouraging to be able to make a start to the tourism recovery.
She’s also appealed to leisure passengers to ensure that they familiarize themselves with the health and safety rules now in place at all local airports.
Ndebele said in a statement that East London Airport is also anticipating that the Level 2 opening of flying for leisure purposes will help to kick start a recovery in local tourism in the Buffalo City Area.
Under Level 2 South Africans may now visit hotels, BnB's and lodges.
