The Mthatha High Court has sentenced Aviwe Bila to 5 years imprisonment for planting a 9 millimetre pistol in a bin at the court in September last year.
The National Prosecuting Authority's Luxolo Tyali says the gun was retrieved by cash in-transit heist kingpins Sakhumzi Mvoko and Bila's brother Yandisa - which led to a shootout between the notorious criminals and the police.
Both Yandisa Bila and Mvoko died at the scene and a correctional services warden was shot in the leg.
Tyali told AgoaFM news that Aviwa was arrested about two week's after the incident.
She was sentenced to a 5 year term after pleading guilty to charges of culpable homicide, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
