Parliament says despite several concerns and unhappiness about certain clauses contained in the Protection of State Information Bill, the majority of people who gathered at the OR Tambo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape welcomed it.
Parliamentary Communication Services says in a statement the debate continues to draw mixed reactions among community members with diverse views and understanding of the significance of the Bill.
It says the people of Mthatha and surrounding areas in the province unanimously accepted the Bill .. with recommendations that it should address the information peddling with both state and personal information, like illegal Identity Documents and bogus marriage certificates.
The next public hearings will be in the Free State Province on Tuesday.
