An Eastern Cape policeman has been gunned down in Peddie.
Provincial police spokesperson, captain Ernest Sigobe, says 38 year old constable Sipho Jaca, was shot dead outside his girlfriend's flat in Peddie last night by an unknown assailant.
Five spent cartridges were found at the scene.
Sigobe says the motive for the killing of the policeman is not known and a case of murder is being investigated.
He says police are looking for anyone who might assist in the investigation of the murder.
Provincial police commissioner, Celiwe Binta, has condemned the killing.
