Police at Ngqeleni near Mthatha have arrested two men aged 36 and 50 after they were found in possession of several unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The suspects were arrested by Ngqeleni police and national inteverntion unit officers from Mthatha during an operation that was conducted at Nkumandeni locality in Ngqeleni.
The operation commenced at midnight on Friday and ended early on Saturday morning.
The two arrested men will appear in the Ngqeleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Meanwhile: Six men have been arrested and four unlicensed firearms confiscated in four separate police operations in Cape Town.
