Eastern Cape police identify farm attack victims

A 53-year-old Eastern Cape man who was seriously injured in a farm attack in which his elderly parents were murdered, has been airlifted to a hospital in Bloemfontein.

The bodies of Dawid and Ralie de Villiers, both in their eighties, were found by their daughter in their house on the farm Broadlands early on Wednesday morning.

They had all been stabbed.

The De Villiers' daughter Christina and son-in-law, Johan Olivier, are both doctors in Barkley East.

Olivier said their attention was completely focused on the seriously injured Dawie, and he did not know the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Police spokesperson, captain Ursula Roelofse, says preliminary investigations show that no items had been taken from the farm-house.

However, she says a small window had been forced open to gain entry to the house.

No arrests have yet been made.
