The Eastern Cape is playing host to a major conference looking at women's issues.
The Second conference of the Progressive Women's Movement is taking place from Thursday at Walter Sisulu University's Mthatha campus.
Deputy police minister, Maggie Sotyu, gave the assurance that all measures were in place to ensure the safety hundreds of delegates expected to attend the conference.
It will also be addressed by president Jacob Zuma.
A delegation from the ANC Women's League and the Women's caucus in the Bhisho legislature will also be attending.
