The Eastern Cape Department of Human Settlements has warned of a scam where people claiming to represent the Department are charging large amounts of money to process housing subsidy applications.
Department spokesperson, Lwandile Sicwetsha, says they've received reports that scamsters are asking people to pay
R6 500-00 as well as a R200 joining fee to buy low-cost housing.
He told Algoa FM News that the Department of Human Settlements had not appointed any organisation to process housing subsidy applications.
