The Eastern Cape government says it has noted with concern that the number of initiates who have died as a result of botched circumcisions now stands at 25.
Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle and Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC, Fikile Xasa, will address this and other issues at a media briefing in Bhisho on Wednesday.
The Bhisho government says as the traditional initiation season enters its third week, the leadership of the Province is mourning the death of these young men.
On Tuesday, the Eastern Cape Health Department said 61 initiates had been admitted to hospital.
Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, says an initiation school outside Mbizana was also attacked by a group from another initiation school.
He says 13 boys escaped uninjured and the initiation school was burned down.
