Eastern Cape gets new ambulance fleet

Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Thandiswa Marawu, will officially hand over 20 new ambulances to the province's emergency services on Wednesday.

The ambulances are part of a fleet of 60 new vehicles that were purchased by a newly established trading entity to manage the provincial fleet following the expiry of a contract with Fleet Africa Eastern Cape at the end of January.

The Eastern Cape Transport Department says the rest of the ambulance fleet will be distributed at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Cape Transport Department says it has obtained another unqualified audit report for the financial year ended March 31st.

Chief financial officer, Denzil Skweyiya, says this positive outcome is the result of the work of a dedicated and hard working team using a winning formula.

He says the Eastern Cape Transport Department has now set its sights on reducing some of the matters of emphasis raised in the audit report.
