Eastern Cape police are searching for two suspects who shot and killed a Barkly East farmer during a robbery on Tuesday night.
AfriForum has identified him as Sarel Pretorius of the farm Rooipoort.
Aliwal North police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Nozuku Handile, says his wife Anna Marie was locked inside the bathroom during the attack and was not injured.
The attackers fled in the direction of Elliot after taking Pretorius' cellphone, cash and firearms.
Handile said police were concentrating their search for the killers in the Elliot and Ugie areas.
Agri Eastern Cape President, Ernest Pringle, condemned the murder of Pretorius.
"Farm attacks have escalated recently, especially in the last year. This is becoming a central core of concern again and is deeply disturbing to us. We are going to have to make sure that our sector policing that have been set up between ourselves and the police become more effective in order to see if we can prevent these attacks from happening." said Pringle
The murder of Pretorius was the second deadly farm attack in the district in recent months.
87-year old David de Villiers and his 86-year old wife Ralie were killed on their farm in October.
AfriForum says the killing of Pretorius was the 5th farm attack in South Africa in the past four days.
It said it would be announcing an action plan next week in an attempt to combat the scourge of farm killings.
