Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Thandiswa Marawu, will join members of the provincial portfolio committee, to assess and monitor scholar transport across the province.
Department spokesperson, Ncedo Kumbaca, says this exercise will run from Wednesday until next Friday.
He says the MEC and the portfolio committee members will visit schools in eight districts, including Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City metro.
"We have introduced new measures to improve the monitoring of the effectiveness and the safety of the service. We believe the time has come for us to become more defensive and more aggressive. Simultaneously our traffic officials are going to be doing round up inspections to ensure vehicles are road worthy and that drivers are fit to drive." says Kumbaca
