Eastern Cape Police have re-arrested 7 of the 11 suspects who escaped from the Barkley East Correctional Centre at the weekend.
The 11 awaiting trial prisoners escaped from the prison facilities on Saturday when they fatally wounded a 55 year old Correctional Officer Mzolisi Duzubana.
Three of his colleagues were slightly injured in the break out from the Barkley East Prison.
Four of the suspects were arrested shortly after they escaped and a further three escapees were re-arrested in Barkley East on Monday afternoon.
They are being held for crimes ranging from house breaking and theft, to assault with aggravating circumstances and murder.
The police are still searching for 4 more suspects who are regarded as armed and dangerous.
