Officials in the Eastern Cape's Mbizana municipality have been told to resign by the ANC's top leaders.
The party's provincial spokesperson, Mlibo Qoboshiyane says president Jacob Zuma and his top six officials visited Mbizana local municipality last week.
He says they directed that the mayor, speaker, and chief whip tender their resignations on Monday, and that the contract of the municipal manager be reviewed.
Qoboshiyane says this will allow the establishment of a new administration and clean governance structures.
The municipality was placed under provincial administration last year.
