The Eastern Cape ANC Youth League says it is disgusted by the action of the SA Police Service, at Lonmin mine in the North West province that claimed the lives of 34 mineworkers..
Provincial secretary, Nkosinathi Nomatiti says the police engaged in the mass killings of defenceless workers, and the ANC government is partly to blame for the incident.
Inkatha Freedom Party leader, Mangosutho Buthelezi has welcomed the inquiry launched by President Jacob Zuma into the shooting, saying he hopes that it will help uncover the truth, so that those responsible for the senseless violence can be held responsible for their actions.
On Thursday, a shootout erupted on a hill near the mine when police tried to disperse striking miners.
