A 30 year old East London woman, who attended a funeral in Centane over the weekend, was robbed while hitchhiking back home on Sunday morning.
Police Captain Jackson Manatha says the robbery took place on the N2 highway just outside Butterworth, when an 18 year old suspect robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash and clothes.
He says the suspect did not notice that the woman was hiding her cellphone, and she later contacted a relative, who in turn informed the police.
Manatha says police acted swiftly, and arrested the suspect a short while later.
