Parliament's portfolio committee on Correctional Services says several East London prison facilities are in dire need of repair.
The Committee visited correctional centres in East London and Mdantsane this week which were found to be dilapidated and in need of maintenance.
Committee chairperson, Vincent Smith, says they're also concerned about the lack of rehabilitation programmes at the two Eastern Cape facilities.
He's urged management of the East London and Mdantsane Correctional Centres to prioritise the implementation of skills development and education programmes for all inmates.
