East London police have arrested a 28 year-old suspect and seized thousands of Mandrax tablets worth more than 400-thousand rand.
Captain Hazel Mqala says Tactical Response Team members conducted a joint operation with East London Public Order Policing members at Pola Park, Dimbaza, on Thursday.
They followed up on information and arrested the suspect in possession of 3665 Mandrax Tablets worth in the region of R439 800, 00.
He was also found in possession of a sachet of tik, a 9mm Norinco pistol and six rounds of ammunition.
A case of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and dealing in drugs has been opened and the suspect will appear in court early next week.
Captain Mqala says a vehicle believed to have been used in the commission of crime was also confiscated.
