Nelson Mandela Bay Metro officials are on the scene of a massive water pipe burst at the Gamtoos River outside Jeffrey's Bay.
Two videos shot at the scene on Friday show water spewing into the air from the massive 600 mm diameter pipeline which supplies water to the Western Parts of Port Elizabeth.
The Gamtoos Irrigation Board told Algoa FM News that a local farmer alerted them to the problem early on Friday morning.
Its purified water from the Churchill Dam en route to Nelson Mandela Bay.
A team from the Metro is currently on the scene attending to the problem.
A Port Elizabeth businessman says it was a spectacular, if not unwelcome sight when he drove past just after 9 am.The Metro could not be reached for comment.
