East-London man arrested for killing his wife

A 42-year-old East-London man will appear in the city's Magistrate's Court on Monday for the alleged murder of his wife.

Police spokesperson, Captain Stephen Marais says the man was arrested in Duncan Village on Saturday evening, after he reported at the local police station that his wife was shot.

Marais said the man was under the influence, and his story sounded fishy.

He said during questioning, the man appeared nervous.

Marais said police went to his house, where witnesses told them that the man arrived back from a tavern, and had an argument with his wife.

A shot was fired, and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Marais said the firearm was licensed.
