An e-hailing driver from Zwide in Nelson Mandela Bay is recovering in hospital after hijackers shot him in the face on Saturday.
A spokesperson for police Captain Andre Beetge says the 24-year-old owner and driver of a blue Datsun Go was hijacked by two armed men in Livingstone Street in the afternoon.
He says the driver managed to jump out of the vehicle to seek help.
Beetge says about an hour later K9 members spotted the car in New Brighton, with the two suspects inside.
He says after seeing police the suspects sped off and crashed into a wooden fence.
The men managed to evade arrest.
The car will now be taken for forensic analysis.
